World Ocean Day Documentary & Discussion



Come and join us to honour World Oceans Day! We're joining forces with local community groups committed to caring for the ocean and marine creatures. Activities include:

  • Documentary screening "The Smog of the Sea" (30 mins duration)
  • Short presentation of local litter issues by Iluka Clifton
  • Panel discussion featuring representatives from Turtles in Trouble Rescue, Coral Watch, Australian Parents for Climate Action
  • Information tables and displays by Australian Parents for Climate Action; Turtles in Trouble Rescue, Coral Watch, Fraser Coast Stand Up Paddle Board Club & Ocean Guardians Hervey Bay.
  • Lucky door prize donated by Watermark Sailing
  • Afternoon tea supplied by the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre

RSVP is essential by 5pm Friday 9th June.

World Environment Day: Art & Action

Celebrate World Environment Day with the Australian Parents for Climate Action Fraser Coast group.


You are warmly invited to join us for a casual morning of art, action and conversation to honour World Environment Day (which is Monday June 5th). We'll meet near the Scarness Jetty from 9am.

Proposed activities:
9:15am Sitting the with big trees - celebrate and give thanks for what is here
9:30am Check out the Our Other Mother Art exhibition
9:45 - 10:30 Chalk art and letter writing / drawing
10:30 Shared morning tea (please bring a small plate to share)

Let's celebrate the beauty of our environment and create colourful messages to share with our community and our politicians. Join us whenever you can!

Kids colouring activities and kids books for story time will be available.

Sustainability Showcase

Sustainable, Edible, Native!

Connect with local groups and meet new friends

Join us at the FREE public expo with stallholders selling organic vegetables, seedlings, edible plants, seeds and more. 

Learn about electric vehicles and scooters, enjoy a bush tucker demonstration, attend mini-lectures about growing leady greens, recycling, small ecosystems, your health and climate change.

Come and find out more about some of the local community groups and recycling and sustainability activities in our community at our Expo at the Neighbourhood Hive. 

There will be a wide range of knowledgeable people and committed groups on hand to tell you about their activities, clubs, membership and events.

We welcome volunteers to help out at our stall and with family friendly activities - please contact Bianca on 0422 911 477 if you're interested in helping out.

Nature Immersion - Point Vernon Geology

Guided Nature Immersion with Wildlife QLD Fraser Coast Branch - come along and join knowledgeable locals on this guided exploration of Point Vernon geology.

These events are offered monthly in different locations across the Fraser Coast area.

Please bring a hat, suitable walking shoes, and a water bottle. Children must be supervised by a parent / guardian.

Gold coin donation or $5 per family
